Time: 8- 9 March 2010

Final programme and panel programmes are here

The Call for the VIII FAREES Russian and East European Conference (VIEPÄ) has been closed. Thank you for proposals and see you in VIEPÄ.

VIEPÄ is traditionally one of the most important events of Russian and East European studies gathering together researchers, doctoral students and students of the branch. VIEPÄ 2010 focuses on new trends of Russian and East European studies as well as publishing policies in international journals. The main task of the conference is to introduce new fresh ideas. Therefore especially young researchers are welcome to deliver proposals for papers.

VIEPÄ also gives the starting shot for the ICCEES World Congress “Eurasia: Prospects for Wider Cooperation" in Stockholm 2010 . The Board of FAREES has decided to give a travel scholarship to the Stockholm World Congress for a doctoral student for merits in research. The scholarship will be given to a doctoral student who presents a paper both at Helsinki VIEPÄ 2010 and at Stockholm ICCEES 2010. The Board announces its decision during the VIEPÄ 2010 Conference. The deadline has passed.

VIEPÄ 2010 keynote-speakers are among others Terry Cox (University of Glasgow), Birgit Menzel (Johannes Gutenbeg-Universität Mainz) ja Dina Khapaeva (Smolny College of Liberal Arts and Sciences/Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies).

The event is free of charge, but participants should pay their travel and accommodation costs themselves.
